Safety for Managers (VCA) VVA-2
The requirement for VVA-2 and indeed VVA-1, is based on the
requirement's of VCA* and VCA**.
If you are getting confused over all of these letters then
you are not alone.
For all companies involved with the petro-chem industry in
Holland, it is a requirement for them to hold a VCA certificate.
Depending on the amount of employees a company has, will determine
if a company needs 1* or 2**. A company with less than 35
employees needs VCA*. A company with more than 35 employees
and who is a main contractor needs VCA**.
For a Company to achieve a VCA certification, its employees
must have VVA-1 and it's manager's VVA-2.
The subjects covered in VVA-2 are:-
Safety and Environmental legislation
Encouraging Safety
Safety procedures
Accident theories
Task & Risk analysis
Company plans for emergencies
Sources of Danger
Ergonomics
Toxic substances
The examination consists of 35 Questions of which you must
get 23 Correct. As with VVA-1, a fail is a fail.
Safety Management System Certification for Contractors
SCC/VCA
Safety Checklist Contractors / Veiligheids Checklijst Aannemers
(VCA). This standard applies to the evaluation and certification
of the safety management system used by contractors, based
on the requirements of SCC. The standard was initially developed
for the petrochemical industry together with DNV, but is now
an accredited public standard used by many other industries.
Why should a company apply for SCC certification?
Especially the (sub)contractors of principals in the chemical
industry (ESSO, SHELL, DOW) will be obliged to obtain a SCC
certificate, before they can perform activities on the premises
of these companies. The SCC has been developed by principals
and contractors in the petrochemical industry but it is however
generally applicable to the certification of contractors in
other kinds of industry.
SCC is one of the first steps on the road to Risk Management
and Loss Control especially for contractors.
